The ever patient Puff!

It was bath night at the Walshes for the lizards. Puff has had some trouble with shedding this last time. So, since Ramses needs to soak 2 times a week, I soaked Puff too. (Puff usually soaks in his large dish in his cage.) As you can see, Puff is extremely tolerant of the new little fellow. I was surprised to see how tolerant. Needless to say, I didn't leave them unsupervised for a second. K~

A night of woopes!

A "work" count down.

5 hours of work

4 times I completely sprayed myself with a hose (face, shirt, pants, shirt again).

1 gallon of freshly made green spilled all over the floor!!!

1 large loon calling many times while I worked - SUPER COOL

1 robin on a nebulizer - yes a nebulizer

35 birds fed and cleaned....check and check

11 turtles fed and cleaned

1 very large, angry, crabby, hissing goose flying at me in a small room

1 scream -yes, from me, while the goose is flying at me

2 loads of extremely stinky hay filled mammal laundry PU

6 LARGE overfilled garbage cans on the curb 3 feet apart- requirement!

100+ grubs and meal worms sorted through
Once I snuggled into bed at 11:00 AM my cat wanted me to pet her. It was her birthday after all. Nala is 7. THEN....a cat started to meow very loudly outside and Nala proceeded to jump onto my left breast (I was laying on my right side) with her back paws square on my fresh breast scar and SPRANG full force off the bed, using my breast as the spring board. OUCH! what a way to end my day. I don't know if I fell asleep or slipped into a pain induced coma, but either way, I got to sleep until 1:00 PM when I had to let Nala out for her nightly romp. Now I am "awake" and ready to get busy for the day.

Happy little turtle fountain

Bob got me this wonderful little turtle fountain when she came to visit. I have it in my office. I am too afraid it will freeze outside or get shattered. So now, I am enjoying it as I work. Thanks Bob. Love it! K~

Flowers, Fishing and Fire roads

So Rick knows how much I don't like doing this family camping thing, after last times fly fest and high humidity!! So before we left he got me this beautiful rose. He was so happy that I was "on board" with this adventure.
Fishing was # 1 on the docket for the Walsh family kids. D caught this huge bass. He was so proud. It was about a 2 pounder.
We had a nice little point to fish off of. However, it was about 3 inches deep for about 5 yards. Still, kind of nice for us to look out onto the bay.
The #1 reason for Rick doing this camping trip, was forest roading. Here is some photos of our adventures in 4 wheel drive.

The road.
The tree removal.
The feeling like a man reaction.
The Austin Powers turn around.
Back to the "main" dirt road.
A sweet little tree.
UUMMM..... who's driving this rig?
Our fluffy city dog thinking he is a regular campin dog.
The kids "relaxing under the stars".

We were all very tired after the trip. K~

Welcome Ramses!

This is Ramses. He (possibly she) is a baby Bearded Dragon. I got him (her) yesterday. He (she) was the tamest and biggest one in the cage. I have held Ramses 4 times yesterday and 2 times today. He (she) seems to be fitting in just fine. I showed Puff Ramses. He seemed to be unimpressed.

Now the family is off camping for 2 days. We leave in an hour. We have packed for 3. The kids are such a help now that they are older. Have a safe and fun weekend. K~

One of the sweetest illustrated books ever.

Some times a person just finds that one picture that just speaks to them.
Well, this is definitely one of those pictures, actually, quite a few pictures.
This book, Little Turtle's Big Adventure was written by David Harrison and
illustrated by J.P. Miller in 1969.
How sweet are some of these pictures.

In coming!

With the last Rabies Vaccination in my left arm and my left breast all taped up, I headed off to "work" last night. I was holding birds, scrubbing cages, feeding, and washing clothes all in my tall borrowed rubber boots.
It was quite a 4 hour frenzy!
Last night was a flurry of activity and hard work. I took care of the sick and wounded birds for quite a while by myself. I started in the flight room. Mr Crow was gone. There were 3 very active Rock Pigeons in his place. Every time I got near, they went a bit nuts.
Rock Pigeon
Ring neck Pheasant
(Sitting in her cage with the door open was a Ring necked Pheasant. Not so interested in flying.)
The last of 3 flight room cages held 2 American Red Starts and
a yellow warbler. They were extremely active.
I felt like one was going to get out for sure!

American Red Start (warbler)

Yellow warbler

In the "sick room" as I call it, I took care of a slew of injured birds. It was the first time that I needed to work hands on with the small song birds. Getting them moved around in the cage so they don't escape was easier then I thought, however, I had 1 minor escape. Here are a few birds I took care of.

Indigo Bunting
American Goldfinch

Baltimore Oriole
Cedar Waxwing
Rose breasted Gross beak
Tennessee Warbler

Loon
(I just got to look at this awesome HUGE animal. He was very quiet. The Vet crew needed to take care of him.)
Robins (3 robins were in the sick room)
American Crow (Yes and another crow. They are really really large. This particular ones cage was sitting head height. Beak just posed for piercing! Needless to say, I faired just fine.)
Soba
(This was labeled "sneaky". I had no problems.
But I was glad for the extra info.)

Female Mallards
(OK, 2 female mallards were taking flight in our small sick room. They were just head height and flying quite fast. That was when a few screams came out of my mouth. There is a "no talk" rule in the rooms, which I fail each and every time. But I am sure screaming is severely frowned upon.)
Male Mallard
Marbled Godwit
(Just had to clean this cage. He was a super cool animal.)

Nashville Warbler

(This one did not make it. S found the injured bird on Monday, so I brought it to the WRC. I did not see it in the sick room. It had to be put to sleep. It had a compound fracture of the wing and it could not be fixed. So sad.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!!! SHE'S 40 TODAY~

...................................................................................................................................

Good news!!!

I got my pathology results back. It was a ruptured cyst, scar tissue and fibroid tissue. They will never know for sure, but the ruptured cyst could of been from my fall in November. It was in the exact location. I am SO relieved and now I am on a regular breast health schedule.

Thanks for your prayers!

Warmer today!

I may even plant something.
