sea slug pillow

I really like when my are art can reflect nature. This pillow did not start out that way. I just liked the yarn. It is Noro sock yarn - kind of expensive. I wanted to do something special with it. I made the flower in the center that then, turned into a square. I didn't just add the flower on top. It was challenging but fun. I think it turned out in the end. When it was all finished, I held the pillow up, and the first thing that came to mind, was a sea slug. So that is why, i named it the sea slug pillow. K~

this

Believe it or not THIS is the bane of my existence. yes he is cute. yes he naps with me (which is a HUGE plus) but...... he has been spending many days and nights at Grandmas house while Grandpa is out of the country. Every time he comes home, we hear a big bang from the dog door and a flurry of activity to follow. The cat is hissing and growling, Bing is barking. He is instantly scouting for food remains and dumping stuff over. He then finds any paper he can sniff out and rips it to shreds. There is the yelling of "Bing down" "Bing, NO!" "Bing, leave her" "Bing, drop it" and of course "Get him, he has something!" Just what every house needs! K~

mixing things up

I have re arranged the living room and dining room.
Clearly a work in progress but we are getting somewhere.

I have been cleaning zoo slowly and am 1/2 done.

I have re arranged the zoo a bit as I clean.
Trying to open up space.
I have been working on my soon to be office/Cora's bedroom.
Slow slow slow but sure.

I have re arranged the TV room to open up
the area but close the running path.

squirrely in more ways then one.

Well last night was a bit crazy, but we made it. I worked with the squirrels. They like to make a deep squeak at you. One was going around and around in an odd acrobatic circle. Kind of like the motorcycle in the big ball at the circus. It was, needless to say, entertaining.
Now that i have been on Face book for about 24 hours, I must say that I am not quite sure how to work it. I agree with Bobbi, that it is like I just went back to high school. I got in touch with a beloved friend already. I just love him dearly and am so excited to have been in contact with him. So... that was very neat.
I have to admit that the page looks a bit to disorganized. I get lost on my own page. I hope we can clean that up some how.

new skill??

What to do when your printer stops printing?
A. Call someone who is a computer repair man?
B. Find and read the printer manual?
C. Tear it apart and try and figure out what is wrong, fix it, and put it back together?
I of course picked C.
Kind of scared at this point.
Those 3 thingies came off the printer with the lid.....
Looked inside. Oh.... spring loose and stretched. Cut some off. Reattached where it looked like it went....I had no idea... just a guess.
Try and piece it back together. Not too hard.
Wish my hands were a bit smaller.
There.
I think.
Turn on printer. Hit test print.
And surprise surprise....paper came out with ink on it!!!!
The spring I just took out and cut a bit off.

Bing??? He helped by snoring loudly next to me on my desk.

I am so proud of myself. I now have a new job skill. I think? Now where do I fit that in. Would it be next to "finding incredibly small lost item in a house full of junk" or "reviving a dead baby turtle?" ?

It started out innocent enough

White footed mouse
House mouse
Canadian goose
Trumpeter SwanFemale Wild Turkey

So my evening began with caring for a house mouse and 5 white footed mice. All seemed to be very small and very cute.

I moved onto the room with many ducks and geese. This is when things got up close and personal. There was one goose who just needed to get a close to everything I was doing.

Then I moved onto the swans. I got wing slapped by an adult trumpeter swan. Fortunately for me (not her) she was quite injured and could not get up much strength to do too much damage.

Leaving that room, I was checking on the famous Ward D. Our Female Wild Turkey patient is still there. Obviously feeling better every week. This week, she decided to peck vigorously at my black rubber boots. She followed me around and just kept stabbing me with her beak. Then she began picking at my pants. Not wanting to get holes in them, I decided to leave for a bit. Before I could move she head butted me too close to my unmentionables. I made a fast retreat and could not stop laughing. I kept thinking of what I would have to say to some poor ER doctor, if it got any worse.

Greatest quote of the night: while one volunteer tried to shut a freezer door and a box kept opening up and pushing the door open.

"I'm smarter than a box!!"

Makes you think. K~

done

I am finally finishing gifts. The bookmark is for an early December birthday 2008 and the eyeglass holder is for the same person for her early December birthday 2007. It does take me a while. K~

The "drive thru" window

So I have been moving my office around to prepare for C to join me. She gets 3/4 of the room and I get 1/4 for my office. At least for now. The goal of course, is to let her have this as her room....completely. That will take a bit longer to do. Anyway. We have this outside window that was left in when the people added on the tv nook area. Now the desk is at the same level as the window ledge. Last night Bing came walking through. Then after I put a blanket down, he settled into his new space.
Bing asks "would you like fries with that?"

What to do

So this is the look that I have been sporting lately. I have been busy doing "nothing" for about 11 days. I think my resolution is to do nothing for 365 days of 2009.
I only have 354 left.
Piece of cake.
Just thought you all would enjoy a quick little update on the beautiful "rotten chicken" Although it appears that it has seen it's final days, alas.... my husband has resurrected it, yet again. We thought it was the transmission, but it turns out it was something else, fixable for $50.
Phew.... I thought we may have to get a new car.And lastly, I have found my new dream job. I was educated in graphic design, and have never ever applied it, however, this job looks particularly enjoyable.
I want to design cereal boxes for generic cereals.

Back at it

Well I was back with my friends last night. It felt good to get back into the swing of things. Mostly the same animals. I just cleaned and cleaned and fed and fed. One interesting thing.......there were 7 swans NOT swimming in one pen. I found that kind of funny. K~

babette blanket update

Just 10 - 6 round squares to go and then I start to assemble it. It has been fun to do, but as usual, I get a bit sloppy. We'll see if I can figure out how to sew them together. K~

motly crew

Rick S and D at the Vikings play off game. K~

Sunday, January 04, 2009

Too much for a 24 hour period!!

Colts...............out of the play offs!

Vikings.......out of the play offs!!
Man my Pey Pey really let me down. The Vikings on the other hand, like my friend Sue says: "They are like a really bad boyfriend. They do something to make you feel like 'Yep it's over this time!' and then they do something to make you take them back for a while, and then BAM they disappoint you again!" Will I ever learn.
As far as the Colts go. I am still a bit smitten with them. I have been quite a fan for 2+ years now. I do like to see a team play and then win too.
I was a bit crabby last night when it was over, and could hardly watch the game. Today, I just was in my same numb state. No surprises there.
What to do, what to do....... Now I need to pour over the teams that are left. Obviously I need to route for Eli (Pey Pey's brother) and the New York Giants! Can't let Pey Pey down, even though he......oh no... I am not going to go there.
I am sure all of you out there are facing similar dilemmas. Hope we can work this all out.
Much luck.
