So after the BWCA we traveled from an hour north of Ely to Detroit Lakes. It took about 8 hours in the van! Rick had a job interview that he didn't quite make it to, so he had to do it by phone in a McD's parking lot in Grand Rapids. The kids ate inside, while me and Bing supervised them from the window....odd. After that, it was back in the car for another few hours to the hotel in Detroit Lakes. We left BWCA at 7:30 AM and arrived at the hotel at 6:30 PM. The kids swam, ate and went to bed. I did 3 loads of laundry.
Then onto the house boat, another 5 hour drive!
We arrived just fine and were very glad to get out of the van! After a rapid unload into the boat, and I mean rapid, we were off. Rick insisted that we call him Captian! It was a very nice, unique and special trip. With in the first few minutes Base called us on the CB and asked if we have our outboard motor boat still, we didn't! So they found it and returned it to us.
Being on the house boat was like being in the BWCA with the comforts of home. Bing was SO SO much better on the this part of our adventure. I have way too many photos to share so I am going to just try and give a few highlights.

Nights:
Injuries: D slicing open his foot on a rock in the water, playing spy, on the first day! Needless to say, we ran out of band-aids.
Crafting:
Critters: That is Rick's wedding ring next to this spider. We aren't sure if that is it's stomach or an egg sack under it.

It was a great trip. I do recommend it, if you can drive a house boat! Thanks bob about the afghan. I am on row 105 now. I really have enjoyed doing it. K~
