Getting ready for our family airplane ride

We are taking the kids on an airplane ride for Spring Break.

Destination....Chicago.

I am mostly packed and we are gearing up to go. The kids are in bed and Bing is at Grandmas. Snacks are packed and the double check list is made for tomorrow. We are only going to be there for 2 nights and one full day. Coming back on Friday afternoon. We hope to see the Museum of Science and Industry and eat pizza with a friend of mine on Thursday. She and her kids took the train out this morning. K~

A hairy evening at the wrc

1 short tail shrew
1 red squirrel

1 muskrat

2 Virginia Opossum - totally hissed at me! one tried to bite me when I was trying to get his food dish. Luckly I was wearing a heavy leather glove. 2 Eastern Cottontails

5 Grey Squirrels

14 Big brown bats

15 meal worms hand fed with a clamp (like above) and a thick gloved hand.

PER BAT! = about 210 meal worms fed. 400+ meal worms counted, 200+ replaced. Sheesh! It was a long night. I also needed to clean their cage, wipe down their cage, and give them a drink of water with a small syringe.

I was the only one Rabies vaccinated so, it was up to me. I find the power of those little little jaws a bit intimidating. The noise of them chewing a bit eerie, and over all the process to need a bit of patients.

It is rewarding to finish it all up in about 2 1/2 hours.

I have to say. I really enjoy a thankless job. Most of the animals are very crabby at me. They just want to go home. I can understand that.

Dealing with uncooperative coworkers

So apparently I am needing to hire a more cooperative and not so cuddly coworker. It seems Bing likes to sit on my lap and snuggle right at the time that I am needing to type and use my lap top. Then, today, he decided to "help" me out by blocking my use of the mouse and being able to see the screen. K~

I have been waiting for the warmth.

I have a little bit of the sun in front of me. I was happy to bring home one of my favorite new plants. I have also planted a new sensitive plant. Hopefully the seeds will take and I will get another one of my favorite plants back. K~

Make sure to be clear

So S is sitting there playing a recorder in the TV room. I said "S, don't play that here anymore, we can't hear." He toots it again and states that it was an accident. So when he did it again. I said " Do not put that in your mouth again." Moments later he started to play it with his nose. sigh. K~

Well it's that time of year again. The slow prepping for spring. First the dog. I just LOVE him fuzzy! I was so sad to bring him in on Wednesday. He is just so cuddly and not so slick pig like.
On the other hand, he is so shiny and clean. And not so stinky. K~

mess sweet mess

So on Saturday, I am home in my mess sweet mess. I said to Rick, "You have to help clean this up." And I swear his retort was " I didn't do it!!" which I responded "well neither did I" I could not believe it!! He actually said that. I guess I was away for a bit too long. We laughed at that for a while. He went to work, and I cleaned up the counter until it shined. Now, I can't see the counter surface. Oh well. K~

hard to be home

It's hard to be home. I worry so about what is going on done in AZ. I just need to be patient. I have been calling down there frequently. I am sure I will soon acclimate to being back. Communication is just challenging. Here are some more photos. K~

I am all checked in at the airport. I am at the Starbucks and having an iced Chai and surfing the web. YEAH!! I hate checking into the airport. after that is done, I feel much more relaxed. I took a few more shots today before I left. Here they are.

enjoying a bit of the beauty

It was 88 degrees here today. Not complaining. More noticeable than the heat, was the beautiful blue sky and sunshine. Just what I needed. I have not been able to do much but be with my mom and dad. My dad is still in the hospital, so I am going to be coming home on time, at this point, on Wednesday. All of these photos were taken on my walk around the block at my mom and dads house. Just super neat. The 4th photo has a hummingbird on the top of the cactus. It was so cool to see it just sitting there. If you look carefully at the Huge prickly pear cactus, the 3rd photo, you can see a couple of heart shaped lobes. K~

finally got out a bit

I finally got a chance to get out a bit. I took a ton of photos of the neat vegetation around here. It is so nice here and I am enjoying the weather. Today it was 75 degree. These are photos I was able to take. I will upload a few more tomorrow. This is a goose at my the lake my walks around. They call it tosslehead

Day 5

This project was inspired by 2 things, my 2D class in college and my friend from Ravelry's "State Fair Afghan". I used many colors to finish it. It was kind of fun to make and even more fun to photograph in the warm Arizona sun.

OOOO.....Sunny plants!!! I can hardly wait for spring! It is so nice and sunny here!
