Pillow top and swans

I had so much fun making this pillow top, that I am not sure if I should continue and make a blanket. It is such a hard decision. This was an inspiration from a pal on Ravelry. Anyway.... at least it is beautiful anyway I use it. The bunny blog is soon to come.......
Last night was so funny. We have very few animals, and are able to slow down a bit at work. During this time, I like to just watch the animals for a few minutes. Swans, all bet it bossy, are so fun to watch. Last night, I had a stand off with one. The largest Trumpeter swan was asserting his power by being stubborn. I need to drain their pool and lift it to hose it out before I refill it. We he decided to stand on the edge while it was draining. So, I went to fill their food bowls and swept up the mess on the floor. He was still there. Hissing and staring at me. So I went to get my pal Kris and she worked on getting him to move while I cleaned the pool. I guess he won. He was wiggling his but and honking. What a bragger :-) K~

I enjoyed doing this for a bit, and then became a bit bored. I am ready for my own design and something a bit geometric now. K~

Turtle PT

Well I had to give a baby snapping turtle some Physical Therapy tonight. It was about the cutest thing I have ever seen. I needed to share with the group. The Physical Therapy was swim therapy. I put him in the water and at first he just sat in the water like a cork, bobbing up and down. I was worried he was going to drown, so I rubbed his tummy and feet a bit. and he got a bit more active. Then he swam around a bit and worked on getting up on the brick. His big head ( way way to big for his body ) kept bumping the brick. After some time and some help, he got his little foot onto the brick and hoisted himself up. It was just so sweet!! K~

Ever have one of those days?

I feel like Bing looks in this picture, today. My brain is FULL to bursting and I need to just sit. I have been doing that for about 20 minutes now and it feels good. Maybe a nap around 1 PM and then I am off again to do the parent thing and work. K~

Oh my Pey Pey

WHAT A GAME!! I stayed up last night until 11 PM to watch my boyfriend. Always supportive, I was worried that they were losing most of the game. But in the 4th quarter with 4 minutes to go and down by 14 points, my Pey Pey came back with 2 touchdown passes to end the game at 35-34!!
I HATE one sided network commentary! The entire game, the network coverage was totally boasting and bragging about New England!! Now, they had a fine record going into the game, 6-2. But the Colts had a perfect record 8-0. The announcers had the nerve to say that the Colts better beef up their game if they were going to play in the same league as the New England Patriots!! I just don't get it. Who pays them to say this stuff.
They won and they played hard and they deserved it!!
My Pey Pey is a very good boyfriend. K~

What to do....what to do.....

So I have been working on updating my resume.

Mainly, to see if I can. And it appears that it will be a challenge.

I have been working on it steadily for a few days now and so far I have a hodge-podge of experiences that don't even match what I want to be when I grow up. I think it's hard to make a resume out, when I am not sure about what I want to do, let alone if I want to do anything. So as you can see it is a big dilemma.

The other issue I have, is that I don't even know what is out there that I may want to do. I have been doing a lot of informational interviews. I have got great leads on some super neat volunteer jobs, but boy, it would be nice to get paid for something once in a while.

I am plugging away. I am trying to think about getting out of the house more. Although, I like it here, I feel that I need to try and socialize more. Obviously, volunteer jobs have always been good to me. I just would like to bring in some income.

That said, I have been surprised by reviewing my college transcripts. My GPA was very good. I think the lowest I achieved was 3.50. That has been uplifting.

So the work continues.

Bingy is 3!

Well, Bing is three today!
He has quite a wrap sheet for being 3.
Remember when he was fired for not waking the kids for school?
He kind of smells like pepper due to the fact that the spa shampoo
- pumpkin pie spice -
has gone punk by now.
I had to call the Dr. and ask why my dog smells like pepper,
then it dawned on me.....
pumpkin spice gone bad.
He is still adorable and incredibly bad.
He likes to get on the table and eat whats there.
He likes to pee in the house if the wind blows.
He likes to steal the kids food practically out of their mouths.
He torments the cat to no end.
He barks out the front window morning, noon and night.
He is well, a dog.
He is a GREAT start of a nap partner, then he needs to go and bark.
He always jumps up on the bed and lays down and puts his head in my hand.
He loves to go to Gram Grams and bark at her house.
He does love us and likes to show it.
He enjoyed his donut from the donut store this morning.
He dragged us behind him the entire way there.
He got to meet a few other dogs along the way.
He had a great birthday and we will have his party tomorrow morning. Bing has no boundaries. K~

too many ideas, not enough brain

I have been working on several ideas this weekend. I have lots of stuff floating in my head.
Right now, I am just brainstorming on how I want to present my material.
I can't seem to write the funny stories the way I can tell of my travels and life.
It just isn't humorous when I put it on paper.
I do find, however, actually using paper and pencil is the way I write the best. As I copy my writing onto the computer, I can see how it flows. That process seems to be working out ok. I make it sound like I have tons and tons of stuff. Truth be told, i have a few pages of story, and a lot of chapter/story titles. I think I know how I want to tell my story.
But it is a lot of work... and well... i am kind of lazy.
My brain is a bit too scattered and i like to sleep a lot.
I have started to work on a character for my ideas.
I have drawn a few sketches of little me. Here it is. K~

me of all my rich stories I have to share.
But how to put them all down. K~

turtle skulls and custard filled donuts

So I was at work last night, doing the turtle room. We have a huge snapping turtle there right now. I was looking at it's back feet and noticing that the foot is as big as the palm of my hand! I tried to get as close as I could to see if what I was seeing was true. It was. They are huge!
Then I was looking at his head. I can get a great view of the top of his head. I kept staring at it. Wondering what I could compare it to so someone could get a realistic size reference. The only thing that came to mind was a large custard filled chocolate donut. This was his skull only, without his beak and neck. I was pretty happy with the comparison, until I realized that it was kind of odd for me to compare one of my favorite donuts to the head of a huge reptile. K~

cute and i wish we could cuddle!

Red Bat
Look at this little fella. He is even cuter in real life. This is a red bad. They have football helmet hair. His hair is so soft looking that it looks like baby bird down. I watched it eat and just thought i was going to fall in love. Until.... I looked over my shoulder and saw a little fella like this one.
I mean really, how cute is he. K~

Curious Green Patch

A curious little sculpture garden downtown Minneapolis. It was so sweet.
I had to take several photos. Of course I like the subject matter. It was such a nice happy little patch in a big cement city!! K~

Ah the twinkies!

The hillbilly family goes to the dome. We went on the last regular season game at the Dome. I always like to see my very young Twins boyfriend, Joe Mauer. He went to the high school a 1/2 a block away from our house. It was a very good game and we really had a nice time, until the "farewell to the dome" event after. The kids had a very hard time sitting through that. Me however, had a wonderful time seeing my old Twins boyfriend, Rick Aguilera, twins relief pitcher back in the late 80's early 90's. Oh boy!! He is aging well. K~

Birds

Work was good last night. I was kind of everywhere. I really miss D. I was helping out in that ward and got to hold and care for a ovenbird. Look at this cute little guy. I have never seen one of these before.
My latest square. Inspiration piece is by Charley Harper, "Pier group". I liked how it turned out. the details were hard. K~

who was cuter?

So I know that I haven't written lately about my absolutely FAVORITE job!! Love it!! I had a pretty fun filled night on Wednesday. The cormorant that we have is ADORABLE!! He has to wear boots, yes foam pads with tape due to some bumble foot issues. So his cute foot is covered a bit. He actually looked even cuter than normal.
The cutest smallest myotis bat! I think this is one. I googled him. Anyway. I had to show a co worker how to get them to their feeding dish with out touch them with our hand. 2 weeks ago, a little myotis started to crawl up my glove and proceeded to crawl up my arm. It was very tense for a bit, because if the little fella bites one of us, it automatically has to be put down, even though I am rabies vaccinated. But alas, it didn't bite me and it got it off with out incident.

I fed the 2 outdoor pigeons. One look like a lolly pop. Its round little head sat on top of his extremely skinny bald neck. Just had to take a double take on that one.
The crowning glory of Wednesday, was my wonderful contribution to the ACC at the WRC. I was making greens for the 48 ducks I had to take care of. I finished a great lettuce and water smoothie and took the lid off to inspect my master greens making abilities. I needed to push the blender back, so I could pour it out into the bucket. My thumb accidentally hit the ON button and for a split second it was like we were in the exorcist movie for a moment. Green was spewing everywhere. I stood stunned, but was able to turn it off. It was quite a mess! Shocking really, and I don't recommend you try it at home. K~
